Promise and a Prayer Day 1

Scripture Galatians 6:9 (NLT) So let's not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don't give up.

Observation Three observations from this scripture; the first is that we have a choice, we can choose to do good even when we are exhausted by the effort that is required to do good. The second is that God’s timing for harvest is perfect, God knows when we need, what we need, and even when we wonder what is taking so long. The third is that in order to reap and enjoy our harvest we must refuse to quit.

Application So how do we live this out in our daily lives? Well it starts with a choice. We have to choose everyday what kind of person we are going to be. Are we going to be defined by and identify with God who is GOOD ALL THE TIME or are we going to allow our circumstances, emotions and our energy levels to define who we are? Once we decide to be defined by the Good God that we serve, then we can begin to expect God to show up and show out in our lives at just the right time. This means we live everyday with hope, because the Lord of the Harvest is going to send a harvest of blessings into our life just when we need it the most. When we grow tired and feel like quitting, we remind ourselves of this scripture and the promise that our God is good and harvest is on the way.

Prayer Father, we thank you for the example of goodness and endurance that you set for us through Jesus. Today we choice to be defined by and identify with you. We choose to do what is good and pleasing in your sight and rejoice that our labor is never in vain. Thank you for the harvest of blessing that we are enjoying now and for the ones that are continually coming into our lives. In Jesus Name, Amen.
